| TC2677's communicate with the AS/400 via Telnet. When driving a printer, Telnet will ALWAYS configure as a 3812. To the AS/400 a 3812 is a laser printer and the dot-matrix parameters of pitch and cpi are controlled via a font id number. Each 3812 on the AS/400 has, as part of the device description, a default font id. When printing any given job from the AS/400, if the job itself does not specify a font id then the AS/400 will use the default font id contained inside the device description. The typical default font id is font 11, a courier 10 pitch portrait font.
To determine the font id being sent down by the AS/400 to the TC2677 attached printer, use the I-O Configuration Utility to get a "Data Capture" (DC) of the job to be printed. Then email this DC to I-O Corporations Technical Support Group who will then breakdown the DC and identify the font id being sent down by the AS/400. Before you run the DC, it is important that you end and restart the print writer. This will ensure the format commands are sent down from the host. |
