Article #339 - Mixing printers and hosts
Updated:02-17-2006 - Views: 547
Coax or Twinax IPDS printers, driven by an I-O LRPC can be driven from AS/400's (iSeries) or from IBM Mainframes (390 or 3270 hosts).

SCS printers, Coax or Twinax, must be driven from their respective hosts in order to work properly. For instance, Coax SCS printers cannot be driven from an AS/400 (iSeries) by using the LRPC. Conversley, Twinax (AS/400 or iSeries) printers being driven by the LRPC cannot connect to and talk properly with an IBM 390 or 3270 host.

IPDS printers, Coax or Twinax, will print fine using the LRPC from a Coax or Twinax host.

This is not ture for SCS printers. You cannot mix and match SCS printers and hosts.
